The most traditional method of protecting local and remote logins has been the use of a simple username and password which is the case in various organizations across the globe. From accessing a company's databases to obtaining other confidential and sensitive information, all that one needs to do is enter these two basic pieces of information (username and password). But as we all know, passwords are painfully insecure and can be immensely harmful. Choice of weak passwords that can be easily guessed, phishing attacks, unsecured networks are some of the reasons which make passwords unsafe most of the times.
And this is not where the problem stops. Once your password is revealed, it’s impossible to tell who has access to your accounts, you cant even figure out if anyone is accessing them illicitly. In the past we have seen big organizations being compromised just by gaining knowledge of its users’ passwords. Hence it can be clearly stated that only passwords are simply not enough for protecting important logins. This is what Two factor Authentication is all about.
Two-factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account. Once enabled, Sign-In will require you to enter a unique verification code generated by an app on your mobile device or sent via SMS text message, in addition to your email address and password.Once you enable the SkyDesk Two Factor Authentication, it will generate a unique verification code for your account, which you will receive on your phone via SMS text, voice call or using Google Authenticator mobile app. This verification code along with your password will help you to access your SkyDesk Account. So, you'll protect your account with something you know (your password) and something you have (your phone). Hence TFA uses two layers of protection to make sure that nobody else but only you can have access to your SkyDesk account.
